STAO is an organization of science educators that work together for a common goal:

• The Science Store –an online source for new science education resources
• Virtual library –a place to find activities, labs and ideas on almost every science topic
• Crucible – 6 issues per year of a professional magazine full of exciting and innovative approaches to science education. ** Each issue includes an “Elements”section dedicated to elementary teachers!
• Newsletters (STAONews) –on line monthly updates of events, workshops, ideas to share

• Annual conference –a three day extravaganza of ideas to inspire.

• STAO/APSO is committed to helping science educators work in a safe environment.  They offer workshops and resources (books, pamphlets, CDs) to help you feel safe in your science classroom .

• STAO provides a strong voice fro science educators throughout the provice by working with the Ministry of Education and other agencies on science related issues (curriculum, safety…). Members are often consulted for input.
• Community
• STAO is an extensive network of elementary and secondary science teachers in Ontario.
